His reputation was cemented when he served as Chief Architect for Pacific Bell's Gemstar project. Gemstar was the first successful large scale client server environment ever created and won Pacific Bell the prestigious Carnegie Melon award for innovation and execution. Following that Walsh continued with his specialty of large scale integration by creating one of the first multi-bank ATM systems, joining Wells Fargo and HSBC. He provided the architecture and the switching software to convert Merrill Lynch's X.25 network to TCP/IP, creating an enormous network with a centralized Tandem switch and over 500 NT servers across the world. He also integrated JP Morgan's Chase' merchant account to utilize a single switch for every credit card system.

As an early adopted of Internet technology, Walsh created one of the earliest on-line banking systems for CitiBank, Bank of New York, Chase and the New York Cash Exchange by combining ATM, branch, PC banking and Internet Banking into one seamless system. He also applied Internet technology to monitor the overnight load processes for the data warehouse he designed for Victoria Secret. In the late 1990's Walsh created a content management system for Barton Beer, the importers of Corona Beer. It was this invention that led him to the founding of Avatar Technologies in 2000 with a content management system as his first product. In 2006, Avatar changed its name to Monas Softworks.
